The Ludwig Narziß Award for Brewing Science recognizes a paper published during a publication year of the scientific journal BrewingScience, the results of which are of special relevance for brewing practice.
The focus is on the transfer of knowledge to brewing practice. The candidates for the Ludwig Narziß Award (the published articles) can come from all areas of brewing practice, in other words, also from malting, hops processing, packaging, etc.
An international group of experts of more than 50 experts from all the relevant fields of expertise determines the practical relevance of the entries submitted. They evaluate the submissions in terms of their scientific value and their practical relevance. The evaluation process is carried out anonymously both with regard to the authors and the experts, in order to ensure the highest possible degree of neutrality.
The Ludwig Narziß Award is presented in person by Prof. Ludwig Narziß, who gave the award its name, as well as Dr. Jörg Lehmann, first chairman of the Verband ehemaliger Weihenstephaner der Brauerabteilung e.V. (Association of Weihenstephan Brewers’ Department Alumni), and Dr. Lydia Junkersfeld, editor in chief of BrewingScience, as organizers of the Ludwig Narziß Award.
The event is organized by the specialist publishing house Fachverlag Hans Carl GmbH, Nuremberg, which, among others, publishes the scientific journal BrewingScience. The publishing house is supported by the Verband ehemaliger Weihenstephaner der Brauerabteilung e.V.
