From September 12 to 16, oils+fats@drinktec will take place on the grounds of Messe München. The latest products, services, trends and innovations regarding plant-based proteins, oils and fats will be presented at the trade fair for economy and technology.
The focal point of the industry gathering this year will also be the war in Ukraine, the effects of which can be felt worldwide. It shows that a secure, diverse and sustainable supply of oils, fats and proteins shouldn’t be taken for granted. An extensive supporting program will shed light on these challenges.
Particularly in 2022, the oil and fat industry plays a central role for food security. The availability of cooking oils—especially sunflower oil—has been making headlines. In terms of popularity, sunflower oil is followed by rapeseed oil. The topics, action and prospects resulting from this will be put into focus in Munich.
Politicians are also required to create the right conditions for producers, retailers and service providers to be able to carry out their supply tasks. This applies to the area of energy security, to market and price developments, as well as to the question of sustainability and the future use of biofuels. As the international industry summit, oils+fats will give this political dimension more meaning this year.
Together with drinktec, the world’s leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry, which will take place at the same time, the event will form the framework for numerous special events and opportunities for encounters: At the 8th DGF Education Course (in English) from September 13 to 14, participants will learn about the latest basic principles and developments in oilseed processing and vegetable oil processing. On September 15, 2022, the Protein and Oil Symposium – which is free to trade fair visitors – will illustrate the opportunities and challenges the industry is facing today, and what it can expect tomorrow. The Oilseed Forum 2022, held for the first time by AMI/UFOP/OVID in cooperation with Messe München, offers a lecture and discussion platform on September 16, 2022. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss current market developments and trends on the use of proteins and oils with political decision-makers, analysts and companies.
The supporting program of oils+fats will be organized by Messe München together with its partners, the DGF (German Society for Fat Science), the AMI (Agricultural Market Information Company), the UFOP (Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants) and the OVID (Association of Oilseed-Processing Industries in Germany).
